The idea to start Filled With Goodness

Throughout my life I’ve brought baked goods to events with friends and family, to work and school, etc. One day in 2022 a colleague asked if she could commission a cake from me for her boyfriend’s birthday. It ended up being the first time I sold anything I made. The Monday after the party, she came in and told me that my cake was preferred over the one from a professional bakery his sister got. She said I should start selling my cakes on the side. It wasn’t the first time I’ve heard that and I have thought about it before but this time it hit differently.

I started thinking and planning. I got stuck on what I would name my bakery. Then one day, while thinking about a lemon blueberry cupcake I wanted to make, the name came to me. Filled With Goodness. I love making filled cupcakes and I love using good, high quality ingredients. I want each and every one of my baked goods to be filled with goodness - good flavor, good ingredients - and always made fresh, with love and care.

It all started with a box of brownies

The very first thing I baked all on my own was a box of Duncan Hines brownie mix. Or maybe it was Betty Crocker, my mom bought both. I think I was around eight years old. Since then my love of baking has only grown. I’ve challenged myself to learn more complicated and technical pastries, like macarons, cream puffs, and tiered cakes. These days I never bake from a box, instead choosing high quality ingredients for from scratch baking.

I spent time in culinary school where I first became SERV safe certified for food handling and learned how to make delicious allergen free treats. I worked at SwissBakers in Allston, MA to grow my skills in a professional setting. I most enjoyed making croissants, quiches, and layer cakes there. But, they loved how the berliners came out when I made them so I’d often spend hours of my shifts standing at the fryer flipping the doughnuts every two minutes. Once, after a whole night shift doing so, I went into culinary school to be assigned churros for the day.
